Introducing Chateau Fibonacci

Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a very unique location near the northern end of the Calistoga Valley. My partner Kyle and his dad planted the vines in 2013.The soil here is quite different than other parts of the valley because it’s an island. On one end of the vineyard is the Napa River, which runs north to south down the middle of the valley. On the other side of the property is the creek. In Napa Valley, Calistoga has the highest percentage of volcanic soils. These soils yield more minerals for limiting nutrients that grapes need and allow for superior drainage, which is better for root development.

Why Fibonacci?

Leonardo Fibonacci is one of my personal heroes. The famous Italian mathematician is best known for his namesake Fibonacci sequence, which you might know best because of the golden ratio.I work extensively with Fibonacci numbers in my technical analysis process. And Fibonacci ratios appear everywhere in nature. So it’s no surprise we’re using these ratios in our winemaking process, from the ratio of new oak vs. old oak in our barrels, to the aging process. If it was good enough for Leonardo, it’s good enough for Chateau Fibonacci.
